Malaysia Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has declared the Movement Control Order, to deal with the rise in Covid-19 cases. He said the prohibition of movement and mass assembly nationwide would include all religious, sports, social and cultural activities. That includes, no doubt, a lot of weddings. If you’ve decided to postpone your wedding, here’s what to do:

#1. Don’t panic about covid-19

I understand how stressful it is, and this is an unpredictable, rapidly changing situation. Consequently, it will definitely make you feel upset, but you can still have the wedding you’ve been planning. Just perhaps on a different day. No matter what happens, you are still getting married to the love of your life and this is just a unique chapter in your story.

#2. Discuss a backup plan.

As well as invite people who need to be included in the discussion (for example, your parents) of a backup plan for your wedding. Discuss and decide a second best case scenario which everyone satisfies.

#3. Review your vendor’s policies.

Review all of your vendors contracts, especially their policies on wedding event postponements and cancellations. It is better to reach out your vendors for clarification on their policies, so that you know how to rearrange the wedding schedule.

#4. Contact your vendors and create a new plan.

Have a date in mind and check they are available. Ask if there are any penalties for changing the date. Talk to all of your wedding vendors regarding this unpredictable situation, it gives you the opportunity to have some honest conversations and walk through the process together.

#5. Make a decision and inform all guests promptly.

Finally, after you decide to postpone the wedding, you should inform all of your wedding guests as soon as possible. You don’t need to have a new wedding date to let them know the wedding has been postponed. In other words, you can let them know that you will follow-up with the updated wedding date shortly, or request they reference your wedding website for updated details.
